Need help with the app? Find answers to common questions below, or contact us directly.
Generating briefings
No briefing is generated — Check your internet connection. If you use your own API keys, verify they are valid and have sufficient credits on your Anthropic or OpenAI account.
Briefing generation is slow — Generation typically takes 30–90 seconds depending on briefing length and the number of articles fetched. This is normal.
Error: "Upstream service unavailable" — The Anthropic or OpenAI API is temporarily unavailable. Wait a few minutes and try again.
Audio playback
No audio plays — Make sure your device is not on silent mode. Check that the volume is turned up.
Audio cuts off mid-briefing — This can happen if the app is backgrounded during audio rendering. Keep the app in the foreground while the briefing is being generated for the first time.
Can I change the voice? — Yes. Go to More → Audio Settings to select a different TTS voice.
Subscriptions & billing
How do I subscribe? — Open the app → More → Subscription. Choose a plan and complete the purchase via the App Store.
How do I cancel? — Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Go to iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → CISO Briefing → Cancel.
I was charged but the app doesn't work — Contact us at support@cisobriefing.ai and we will help resolve it.
Where do I enter my API key? — Go to More → API Keys. You can enter your Anthropic key (for briefing generation) and/or your OpenAI key (for text-to-speech).
Is my API key stored securely? — Yes. Keys are stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain and never transmitted to our servers.
Do I need a subscription if I use my own keys? — No. Using your own API keys bypasses our proxy service entirely. No subscription is required.
RSS feeds
Can I add my own feeds? — Yes. Go to the Feeds tab → tap the + button to add a custom RSS or Atom feed URL.
A feed is not loading — The feed source may be temporarily unavailable, or the URL format may not be supported. CISO Briefing supports RSS 2.0 and Atom feeds.
Scheduled briefings
The scheduled briefing didn't run — Make sure Background App Refresh is enabled for CISO Briefing in iPhone Settings → General → Background App Refresh. Also ensure notifications are allowed so the app can wake up on schedule.
How do I set a schedule? — Go to More → Scheduled Briefings. Select the days and time you want your briefing to be generated automatically.
Privacy & data
What data does the app collect? — See our Privacy Policy for a full overview. In short: only anonymous usage data — no name, email, or location.
How do I delete my data? — Email privacy@cisobriefing.ai with your device ID (visible in More → Usage). We will delete all associated data within 30 days.
